Offline hiking recorder and route retracing
A hiking app for recording and retracing a route without a network connection. I implemented tile hosting, offline recording and guidance that accounts for differences in device sensors.

Recording without a connection
Users can download maps before leaving, and recorded tracks remain visible even where map tiles are missing. I build and host the tiles and share them across personal mapping apps.
Guidance based on the recorded path
The app points along the path actually recorded rather than calculating a new route. It also provides an elevation profile and on-device safety alerts.
Sensors and local storage
The app checks for a barometer, compass and step sensor, hiding unavailable values or identifying GPS estimates. Location and hiking records stay in SQLite, with encrypted files for device transfer.
